Studio Policy

 

​You will need to read and sign this updated policy before your first lesson.

​

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS AND PARENT INVOLVEMENT

  • Parent Involvement: Your active participation in your child’s music education is crucial for their progress.

  • Practice needs to become a HABIT: Daily practice (at least 5 days and preferably 7) is expected to ensure steady progress. Our Parent's Guide To Piano Practice offers helpful tips to get you started. ^_^

  • Punctuality: Students should arrive on time. If a student is late, the lesson will still end at the scheduled time.

  • Lesson Materials: Students must bring all required materials to every lesson.

TUITION

  • ​​​Each student will have a​​ minimum of 35 lessons scheduled during the school year. Tuition is divided into equal installments and is non-refundable.​

    • Pay in full: Due in September

    • installments: Due in September and February

    • 10 installments: Due monthly from September through June

  • If you enroll in the middle of a semester, tuition will be prorated.

  • Payments are due on the 1st of each month. A $25 late fee applies if payment is not received by the 1st.

REGISTRATION

  • Time slots will be granted on a first come, first served basis.

  • A $60 material fee is required within 7 days of confirming your schedule with the teacher. If not paid within 7 days, your spot will be made available to other students.

  • This material fee covers all books and materials for the entire year and is non-refundable.

WHAT DOES YOUR TUITION COVER?

  • Time with the student: lessons, showcases, and parties.

  • Preparation time: lesson planning, composing arrangements to match students’ level, teaching materials development, etc.

  • Continue education: researching and staying updated on current methods and techniques.

  • Recital costs: awards, facility rental, and preparation.

  • Studio expenses: supplies, subscriptions to resources, software subscriptions, instrument repairs, and more.​

HOLIDAYS AND BREAKS

The studio will be closed on the following dates:

  • Thanksgiving Week

  • Winter Break

  • Spring Break

  • July and August

STUDENT ABSENCES

  • Students will be assigned a time slot for their lesson prior to the start of each school year. We will do our best to accommodate scheduling preferences.

  • Students may cancel lessons as needed, with the understanding that missed lessons will not be rescheduled or refunded.

TEACHER ABSENCES

  • Occasionally, lessons may be canceled due to illness, inclement weather, or other emergencies.

  • Sunny Side Music Denton reserves the right to cancel up to two lessons per student per school year without offering a refund or makeup lesson.

  • If more than two lessons are canceled, a makeup lesson or credit toward the next tuition installment will be provided.

TERMINATION OF LESSONS

  • Students are expected to commit to lessons for the academic year (September-June). ​

  • If you need to terminate lessons, please provide a 2-week notice.

COMMUNICATION

  • Please check your email regularly, especially on lesson days. Updates regarding emergencies, illness, or weather-related cancellations will be sent via email.

  • If a student is running late or will miss a lesson, please notify us before the lesson starts.

 


MEDIA RELEASE

Sunny Side Music Denton reserves the right to use photographs and videos of the students and responsible adults for promotional purposes.
